Diversity is a principle of nature
The five criteria for one goal: quality
The expertise of the cultivators and our experience in selecting cultured pearls ensure quality for our jewelry customers. There are five criteria which determine the value of a cultured pearl.
The size of the cultured pearl, which is measured in millimeters, is determined by the seed used and by the thickness of the mother-of-pearl coating.
The surface quality of a pearl should be as smooth and flowing as possible. Small irregularities, however, are part of nature’s design. The luster consists of the shine of the pearl’s surface combined with the light reflected through the fine layers of mother-of-pearl. Its intensity is a major factor in determining quality, since the luster is always dependent on a perfect arrangement of mother-of-pearl layers.
The shape is determined by the way the pearl grows in the oyster. The rarity of favorite shapes such as perfect round, tear drop, and full baroque increases the value of these kinds of cultured pearls.
Color has no influence on the quality of the pearl. It is more a question of personal taste. Popular colors such as delicate pink-whites, and rare colors such as deep golds and peacock tones can combine with other criteria to affect the value.
